How to Drive Traffic to Your Health Website in 10 Simple Steps (Part 1)

1. Use White Space Wisely

Don’t underestimate the value of well placed white space in health copywriting. It breaks up your thoughts and makes your alternative health website a whole lot easier to read.

Adding enough white space makes your health content more inviting. Think magazine vs. history book. One is fun to read while the other could put you (and your prospect) to sleep.
 
Use white space the right way and your reader can drop in and out of the health content easily (subheads help also) and focus on the information that matters to them.
 
Reading your health content shouldn’t be a chore. Using white space effectively will help keep your reader engaged and can even make your copy fun to read.
 
Things to avoid:
 
  • Using too much white space (Don’t overdo it, use a variety of 1-4 line paragraphs throughout the web page). 

2. Use Color to Grab Your Prospect’s Attention

You can have the best health content in the world but if it looks bad no one will read it. Choosing the right colors for your health website is crucial to success.
 
Think about a few of your favorite brands. You probably associate the colors used in a company’s logo (and even their website) with the business.
 
For example, what comes to mind when I say golden arches with a red background? McDonald’s of course! And if you look at McDonald’s website gold and red are weaved through every page.  
 
Using color the right way will make your health website look great and it’s easy to do if you’re using a good website page builder. Splashes of color throughout your website make it look inviting and fun.
 
Another design element you’ll want to include throughout your health website are pictures. Pictures grab your prospect’s attention and can even motivate your her to take action.
 
Try to use only high-quality images to help tell your story in a more complete way. The right pictures will take your alternative health content from ordinary to extraordinary. Where can you find pictures that fit the bill?

  • Make sure you use images related to your health content. Random or misplaced images can drive traffic away from your website.

 

3. Choose The Right Font For Your Health Website

If your font is too small, inconsistent, or hard to read you will drive traffic away from your health website. Be sure to select a large enough font most people can read without straining their eyes.
 
Not only does this make your health content more readable, it also grabs your prospect’s attention. 
 
It’s important to use a font that’s easy to read. Sure, it might look cool

but would you want to read an entire webpage that looks like this?

Stick with something basic on your health website and after you decide on a font, be consistent. Some website builders even have the option to set your font for certain types of text. 
 
Things to avoid:
 
  • Don’t use multi-color or very bright fonts. A black font against a white background looks much more professional than a hot pink font on a dark webpage.
